I’ve been there, and after trying to learn them for so long, I got this realization during the process that learning a language is a different process from acquiring it. I want to help you in your journey of becoming not only fluent but culturally adherent to your target language.
Learning a Language implies studying rules and structures, which are important but I believe that communication is more important. Let’s make your journey more efficient and engaging by including topics that are interesting to you, either for your work or to get to know someone. To travel, move to a new place, get connected to your new community, or improve your communication with your fellow people. Acquiring a language doesn’t have to be a drag.
I’m not a guru-type language teacher. I respect all techniques and methodologies. I believe context is more important for every person to acquire a language effectively. There’s no magic method or shortcut to master a language. We only need to find the right motivation and engaging practice that every student enjoys the most. As simple as that.

One-on-One Classes
After a first discovery session, which I will use to explore your studying style and level in your target language, I’ll design a personalized course for you to cover all the aspects that will lead you to become more fluent and ultimately master your pronunciation, writing, reading, and speaking skills. I specialize in pronunciation, cultural adaptation through language, and listening skills. I offer English and Spanish online classes. In-person classes, too, if you’re here in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.
Spanish & English for Specific Purposes
I have a parallel background of working in tech for 20 years in countries like the United States, Mexico, and Peru. I’ve worked in multicultural teams and projects, and I know that the struggle of adapting to a new culture while adapting to a work culture and environment could be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. Other industries where I can help you with my experience are gastronomy and tourism. If you need to use English or Spanish for those special purposes, feel free to contact me.

Meet your Teacher
Hi, my name is Luis, although I prefer Luiz. It’s pronounced slightly differently. Language acquisition and sharing, along with linguistics, are one of my passions.
After having traveled and lived in different cultures around the world. I’ve acquired languages by immersing myself in the culture. I’ve acquired English in offices and at potlucks, and on hikes in Seattle. I’ve acquired Portuguese while chatting at botecos and cooking delicious pão de queijo in Brazil.
Spanish is my mother tongue, which I keep understanding better every day. My passion for linguistics has taught me that languages are alive and mutating every day, and they’re not isolated from social changes. Everything is connected, and language is one of the tools we use to do so.
What is Caju, Anyway?
Caju means Cashew
And Olá means Hello. Everything in Portuguese, which is my third language. This language is the one that inspired me to share culture and language through teaching. Maybe one day I’ll include Portuguese in my language teaching offering, just not yet, because I don’t consider myself ready to teach it since I have a more colloquial use of it, and I need a better domain of it to be able to teach it. In the meantime, it’s the language of my joy and heart. Caju is a very personal connection with Brazilian culture and my loved ones there. Along with xuxu, a type of squash, they are dedicated to joyful times every time I visit. For now, only online Spanish & English Classes.
